Angels Claim Kaleb Ort

The Angels have claimed RHP Kaleb Ort off waivers from the New York Yankees. Outfielder Wade Meckler was designated for assignment in a corresponding move.
Ort, 33, has been in the league since 2021 primarily as a reliever. He had a 4.89 ERA and 49 K in 46 IP last season with the Astros. Ort’s best year was 2024, where he had a 2.55 ERA and 26 K in 24.2 IP. Could be a nice addition to the bullpen but we’ll see what Angels decide to do with him.
Wade Meckler was claimed by the Angels on January 7 but now DFA’d. So although Ort was claimed, doesn’t mean he’s here to stay.
