Just four days after being claimed off waivers from the Twins, infielder Ryan Fitzgerald has been designated for assignment by the Dodgers.

The move was the corresponding transaction to make room on the 40-man roster for the official signing of veteran Andy Ibáñez ($1.2M deal).

Fitzgerald, a 31-year-old utility man who spent years grinding in independent ball before making his MLB debut last year, finds himself back on the move before he could even put on a Dodgers uniform. While Ibáñez provides the veteran versatility the front office wants, it’s a tough break for Fitzgerald after a whirlwind week.

With Ibáñez now taking that final spot, the Dodgers’ bench is starting to look crowded.

Did the Dodgers make the right choice prioritizing Ibáñez over Fitzgerald? 👇
