Today, Los Angeles Lakers forward, Jarred Vanderbilt, has agreed on a four-year, $48 million contract extension with the Lakers, per Shams Charania. Deal is fully guaranteed with a player option in the fourth year. This is a very good move for the Lakers as Vanderbilt is a hidden gem.

Although he is a 2nd round pick and stats don't look impressive, he is a fantastic defender who can guard multiple positions, from point guard to power forward. In addition to that, he is a great rebounder and that's something Lakers really need. Another key factor is that Vanderbilt is a hustle player who makes plays that don't show up in any stat sheet. He dives for loose balls and makes hustle plays that contribute to winning. These are key attributes for a player that do not show on statistics. Vanderbilt is only 24 years old entering his prime. Locking him up for the next 4 years is an absolute steal for the Lakers. Good move.
