LA Kings Trade Deadline Day Recap:
⚪️The Kings have acquired Scott Laughton from Toronto for a conditional 3rd-round pick. The pick becomes a 2nd-round pick if Los Angeles makes the playoffs. Laughton, 31, is a former 1st round pick. Although he doesn’t have a ton of points he’s been great in penalty kills with 12 shorthanded career goals, great at face-offs, can play any forward position, and provides good value to any team.
⚪️The Lightning acquired forward Corey Perry from the Los Angeles Kings in exchange for Tampa Bay’s second-round pick in 2028. Although Perry had a nice season at first, things died down a bit. Also, turning a 40-year old into a 2nd round pick is pretty nice.
⚪️Kings have signed forward Mathieu Joseph to a one-year contract through the remainder of the 2025-26 season. Blues had terminated his contract so he was able to sign with Kings. Joseph, 29, has skated in 39 games for the St. Louis Blues this season, notching a pair of goals and 11 points (2-9=11) including one shorthanded goal, one game-winning goal and four penalty minutes (PIM). Joseph is also a fast skater, he was clocked at 22.78 MPH, putting him in the top 20% of the league for speed. Nice depth move.
Laughton and Joseph will replace the roles of Perry and Foegele.
