Dodgers have officially signed 32-year-old LHP Cole Irvin to a minor league deal with an invite to Spring Training. Irvin is returning to the States after a year in South Korea, and he’s ready to fight for a spot in the Dodgers’ 2026 rotation or bullpen.
The Journey: ✈️🌏
Irvin spent 2025 with the Doosan Bears in the KBO, where he was a workhorse but faced some challenges:
📊 4.48 ERA in 144.2 IP, 128 K
The MLB Track Record: 🏟️
Before heading to Korea, Irvin was a durable “innings eater” for the A’s and Orioles. Over 6 MLB seasons (593 IP), he’s posted a 4.54 career ERA. While he’s never been a high-velocity guy, his command was his calling card until his recent struggles.
The “Prior” Effect: 🧪
If anyone can fix Irvin’s sudden control issues, it’s the Dodgers. By focusing on his pitch tunneling and perhaps leaning more into his cutter/changeup combo, L.A. might have just found a reliable “long-man” or spot starter for the 2026 grind.
Is Cole Irvin the next Dodgers reclamation project success story? 👇
