Anaheim Ducks Get the 2nd Overall Pick

The 2023 NHL Draft Lottery just ended and the Draft order is set. Unfortunately, Ducks do not get the first overall pick. Instead, they will pick 2nd. Although Ducks are drafting 2nd, this is pretty disappointing for the Ducks and its fans. Conner Bedard, the projected 1st overall pick, is seen to be the next NHL star in the next coming years so losing out on him is tough. Getting a free NHL star is a gift that Ducks have missed out on.

At number 2, there really is no projected player but many see it being C Adam Fantilli. A fantastic hockey player and could be a NHL star some day. He won the Hobey Baker Award (best college player award) as a freshman in college which only 2 other players have done. Many experts say in another draft year, Fantilli is a first overall pick. So, while it's disappointing that the Ducks missed out on Bedard, it's still really good Ducks may get Fantilli. It's good that they didn't get 3rd, because there really isn't anyone else that good in the draft other than Bedard and Fantilli. The 2023 NHL Draft is expected to be June 28-29.
